The main point in Stealth Tactics is that this is a way of disguising what you are doing in order to defeat the critical factor and get your message through a persons resistance. Because these tactics are a little on the sneaky side you will want to be sure to exercise the best judgment in using them. If you do not it is likely that your listeners unconscious will start to distrust or dislike you in the actions you are taking.
The first Stealth Tactic we will discuss is the Law of Reversed Effect; it will explain how we should be using something called the Hypnotic Challenge. The Law of Reversed Effect is simply that the harder you try to do something the more likely it is that you will fail. This is not to be confused with persistence. It is not the more your try to do a thing it is the harder you try to do a thing that will result in failure.
There is a reason this failure will take place and that is that our conscious minds work in a way that it executes doing things. Our unconscious mind acts on the things we decide to do and works out the navigation of how to actually do them. For instance you decide to read a book, you read the words consciously but your unconscious deciphers them and adds the emotions and feelings that accompany the words.
This is important to understand as it is the basis of why the Law of Reversed Effect works. The Law of Reversed Effect works because our conscious mind is trying to do something that we would normally use our unconscious mind for. The conscious mind works on the simple things, things that only require 5 9 steps to accomplish. The unconscious mind makes the more complicated functions of life run more smoothly as it can handle much more complicated procedures.
It is only when the conscious mind starts to get into the unconscious minds territory that failure begins to take place. When the conscious mind starts to interfere with the fluid motions of the unconscious the result is failure.
Now this brings us to the Law of Imagination, which is yet another reason for failure. The best way to describe this law is to give you an example. We are all humans and in that we want things. If you think of something you want but should not have you start to set yourself up for the failure in this law.
The way this works is when you state that you do not want something or you shouldnt do something, you are reminded of it often as you think about how you shouldnt have it. Usually if you want something the thought of it will bring a mirage of good experiences to mind. If you like cake the taste, if you like cars the excitement of owning a new car.
These are good feelings and experiences that you relate to the thing you are trying to avoid. The more you think about preventing yourself from getting the thing you shouldnt have the more positive associations are ignited in your head. Eventually you will be overloaded by the positive images of the thing you shouldnt have and your unconscious will give in and get the thing you shouldnt have.
Now in this comes the Hypnotic Challenge. In the Hypnotic Challenge you are going to be setting your listener up for failure by using the Law of Imagination and the Law of Reversed Effect. The Hypnotic Challenge is a way that you will ask someone to try to fulfill a suggestions and you watch to see how they fail.
A classic hypnotist would do this through suggestibility tests. The test is not within the suggestions themselves it lies within the challenge and failure to complete that challenge attached to the end of the test. When a person trys and fails a challenge you have set before them they will unconsciously start to believe that resistance is not within their means.
As long as the listener believes that resistance is not within them to control, that control will be given over to the hypnotist. As long as they continue to believe this one thing it will continue to ring true for them. Now all the suggestions you make will easily flow to the unconscious because there is no resistance in place to stop and examine the suggestions.
This is where the reversed effect comes in; by showing a person that they have no resistance and that they will fail you have actually, in a very sneaky way, passed up the barrier that causes failure. They have no resistance; they failed because you set it up that way, now they will believe they have no control over failure. Because they believe this you now have the power to avoid all failure in your objective as you have bypassed all their resistance.
The best way to use this law in conversational hypnosis is to use a linguistic trick by using words that imply try. Try itself implies failure and to imply the failure is to stack the odds in your favor that they will actually fail at a preconceived task.
Now lets review this as there is a lot of action going on in this Stealth Tactic. The Law of Reversed Effect says that the harder you try to do a thing the more likely it is you will fail.
To put this law in action you need to require that the subject make a conscious interference with a normally unconscious process. You will add to this basing the odds in your favor by asking them to complete a task it is likely they will fail at. As you do this you will use subtle hints to imply they will fail, such as the word try or something with a like meaning.
All of these steps will cause a conflict in their resistance to your suggestion. The critical factor and resistance will be completely bypassed in the process.

After over 20 years as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Hypnotherapist and Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, I continue to find that clients come to me with misperceptions and unfounded expectations about hypnotherapy. The purpose of this paper is to clear up some of those misperceptions, so that you know what to expect in working with me or any other hypnotherapist.
First, some clients expect they can just walk into my office for the very first time, sit down, be instantly hypnotized, and walk out 60 minutes later a changed person. I wish that were the case, but it isnt. Like most therapists and medical specialists, I want to interview you to learn about your issues and concerns and about your personality. I will ask you these questions in order to develop a plan that I think will best serve you.
Second, some clients have a very antiquated and narrow definition of hypnotherapy. They think I am going to wave a watch before their eyes and Ill say, Go into a deep sleep, and they will instantly lose consciousness. I think this attitude is due to the influence of too many Hollywood movies. I am a solution-oriented therapist and counselor. That means that I use several methods to help clients get the results they want. I draw upon traditional hypnosis, guided imagery, visualization, metaphor, Ericksonian hypnotherapy, eye-movement therapies, client-centered methods, cognitive psychology, reframing, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming to meet my clients needs.
There are many approaches to hypnotherapy. Some are structured and direct, while some are more creative and indirect. I select the methods from my repertoire that I think will best work for you. However, it is a trial and error process. If one method doesnt work with you, perhaps another will, or you might benefit from a combination of methods. Hypnosis is a learning process and clients sometimes have unconscious concerns they need to work through, or they may need to hear the message more than once, in various presentations. For this reason, I cannot always predict with accuracy the number of sessions that will be optimum for your needs.
Third, many clients expect trance to be some magical, mysterious state in which they will experience strange sights, sounds, and sensations, like being on some mind-altering, hallucinogenic drug. Or they might expect to have no memory for the experience at all because they equate trance with being unconscious. Let me explain that trance is not an all-or-nothing experience. Trance is just part of the continuum between alertness and sleep. Therefore, trance is a naturally-occurring state, and people access trance every day.
With hypnotherapy, the depth of trance can very. Some people reach a light trance, and some are very adept at easily accessing a deep level of trance.
Here are some basic descriptions of trance levels:
Light Trance: This is a state of curiosity and concentration, like daydreaming. I may ask you to close your eyes and visualize or remember something. You dont have to close your eyes if you dont want to. You remain aware of your surroundings. You can carry on a conversation. You still have complete control over your actions. You can hear every word and remember what happened during the session. You wont feel weird or spacey or zoned out.
Medium Trance: You will feel more relaxed with a deeper concentration. Questions or new ways of thinking about things may enter your mind, because its easier for you to make new associations, imagine, entertain new possibilities, and obtain insight. You still remain aware of your surroundings, although you may lose track of time. You may or may not notice that you feel more compliant and suggestible. You wont feel weird or spacey or zoned out.
Deep Trance: At this stage, your mind is so free of distractions that you can ignore anything not relevant. You can have spontaneous amnesia, and not remember what happened, and rationalize later that you were asleep. Suggestibility is highest at this stage, in which the conscious mind is resting (not participating) and the subconscious mind is most active. You might enter that twilight stage between waking and sleeping known as the hypnogog. Beyond this state, you will fall asleep.
Any stage of trance might be appropriate for the issues you want to address with hypnotherapy. Most clients experience light and medium trance during their first few sessions of hypnotherapy. Although a minority of hypnotherapist say that clients can achieve results only with deep trance, this view is not widely accepted and is easily dismissed. Many people get results from hypnotherapy and were not even sure whether they were hypnotized because they felt so normal during the process.
Fourth, while some clients worry as to whether they are hypnotizable, many hope and expect that they will achieve deep trance instantly and easily. I too wish that were the case. It would make my job much easier. Most people can be hypnotized, if they want to be hypnotized. However, not everyone will easily reach deep trance. Some clients exhibit a natural capacity for trance work, and they readily reach deep trance. On the other hand there are many people who simply cannot reach deep trance, or who can do it only after hours of practice.
One of the aims of hypnosis is to help you work more closely with your own subconscious mindthe source of your inner wisdom. It is my philosophy that everyone creates their own experience of trance, and that your subconscious mind will take you to the level of trance that adequately solves your problem. I will do my best to help you do just that.
Finally, some of my clients expect that I will take control over their thinking and actions, and after hypnosis, they will behave as an automatonachieving results without any conscious effort. The purpose of hypnosis is not to take away your controlits purpose is to give you back control, so that you can have the results you say you want. The purpose of hypnosis is not to stop you from thinking, but to enhance your ability to think in productive, healthy ways, so you can make a decision about what you want to accomplish and carry it out faithfully.
My job as your hypnotherapist is to convince you of the truth that I believe about you, but you havent yet begun to believe about yourself: You already have within you all the internal resources (strength, power, motivation, determination, creativity, intuition, insight, intelligence) you need to solve your problem and get the results you want. All hypnosis does is help you find and tap into those resources that have been there all the time.

The state of mind commonly known as hypnosis is familiar to everybody. It is best described as concentration directed inwards. It is the sate you are in just before you fall asleep, when you are still aware of the surroundings but is to relaxed to care. Also in our everyday life this sensation is known.
In fact we drift in and out of hypnosis so often we are not aware of it. This happens if you are in a meeting, but become unaware for a while, because your thoughts drift away from the speaker and on to other things, such as what you would like to this weekend or the new car you are planing to buy.
Hypnosis is nothing more (or less) than the dreamlike state of consciousness that occurs whenever you let your thought run freely and let the surrounding reality fade into the distant. The reason we are not aware of when we are in this trance like state it is because it demands a degree unawareness. So if you do not like the term trance you can think of it as a sort of attentive inattention. You are just as conscious as you are driving on the freeway at high speed while planing your next vacation. Should anything unpleasant or out of order take place, as if there suddenly appeared as dog in the middle of the road, you attention will immediately focus back to reality.
A hypnotist is trained to evoke and work with this condition in other people. In principle everybody* is capable of being hypnotized, as long as they do it willingly and have enough concentration to follow a simple suggestion. It can be compared with taking at journey of thought with GPS navigation. The hypnotist can only point you in a direction, he can not make you go there.
The same applies to destination you want to reach. If the hypnotist goes off route the conscious mind will object. The stories of people being hypnotized to commit crimes or other acts against their beliefs are simply myth (or it is at least as easy to persuade people while conscious and really deals with an entirely different aspect of psychology).
Many know hypnoses from the more humorous acts known as stage hypnosis. Under a show like this you use the increased ability to accept suggestions caused by a hypnotic trance to alter the participants perception of what is around them. It is parallel to asking a person, deeply focused on reading a book, if you may use his cell phone. The person picks up the phone beside him and hand it to you without looking away from the book. When you tap him on the shoulder to hand it back to him, he ask where you got it from. Most people have experienced similar things i their life and when you think about it, we are capable of doing extremely complex actions without being conscious about them.
In hypnotherapy you work directly with the subconscious and unconscious mind to influence thought feelings and behavior. A hypnotheripist does not label people with a diagnosis but only look a the problems as they are experienced by the client. Under hypnoses you use the high suggestibility to work with a range of different tools for changing behavior. Tools adapted from other types of therapy or techniques developed specifically for analysis and therapy under hypnosis. This makes hypnotherapy very effective in producing long term results. Most minor disorders can be removed with 1-3 sessions and nearly everybody will feel changes instantly. But hypnosis is build on trust and its important to establish a good relationship hypnotist and client in between to ensure the suggestions sticks. Is this connection made and are the suggestions given at the right level of trance, the results will be remarkable.
*hypnoses is generally not recommend for people who suffer from psychosis, that have an IQ below 70 or children under 6-7 (according to maturity).

In Part 1 of this article I shared a story with you of a happy client who had learned to use this simple hypnosis trick to improve his memory.
By the end of this article you will have a much better grasp of how your mind works and how you store memories. There are lots of books that are useful and give good tips and with this simple hypnosis trick you can customize anything else you learn that will help you improve your memory.
Because those tips work for the person who writes them and may work for some of the people reading, yet what I am showing you is how YOUR mind stores memories. So this is a learning experience that can continue to help you to be more successful.
Basically, our minds are wired in certain ways and we are unique and so this hypnosis technique will allow you to use any other things more easily.
A brief recap of part 1 is this :
We store memories in pictures, sounds, feelings, tastes and smells.
So remember SEE, HEAR, FEEL, TASTE, SMELL.
Relax and ask yourself these simple questions and you will know where you store your memories and how to access them easily.
We tend to look in the direction of where we store our memories.
STEPS.
1. Remember a good meal that you ate last week. Notice where your eyes move to. You may want to use a mirror, video tape yourself or have a friend or colleague help you with this exercise. They can ask you the questions while noticing where your eyes moved to.
2. Recall a person you like. What does their voice sound like? What color eyes do they have?
What does their hand shake feel like? Again, notice or have someone else tell you where your eyes move to. Now consciously use this knowledge to find memories you wish to find.
Here is an example of how you may use this at work or anyplace.
You meet someone that you met before and you know they introduced themselves and you want to remember their name.
With practice you can easily scan your memory banks and find their name.
Either by looking for it, listening for it, or feeling for it. Let me explain.
You can let your eyes look to where you store sound memories and match their face with the sound of their voice as they say their name. Or your own voice as you repeat it inside your mind or out loud.
You may remember their name more by feeling the way they shook hands.
Later on in this article I will share a trick that will help you store memories more permanently because you will use emotion and humor and it will make it easier to find later on.
There may be some other connection that helps you to remember their name. For instance, the salesman I mentioned in Part 1,
always remembered what the person ordered, yet forgot their name. Now he is able to connect the name, the face and the business information he needs
to be more successful.
As I have already said it is much easier to remember a great tasting meal that makes your mouth water with the thought of it than it is to recall something you wolfed down while on the run and under a lot of stress.
The good meal may have been more memorable because of the taste, the smell or scent. It could be the atmosphere where you ate or the fact that you were eating while on vacation or while well rested.
Even the company you were in could influence how you store memories. If the meal tasted great, the conversation and company were fun, relaxing or exciting. And there was soft music in the back ground then it becomes a much more enjoyable and memorable experience to remember.
The same holds true for less than wonderful experiences like trauma, which is why understanding how your mind works is such a key to health and success.
So here is an added bonus trick that can help you to enhance and improve your memory now.
3. You meet someone NEW and you notice something about their face or appearance that stands out. It could be a feature on their face or something about them that is distinct. Now as you
hear their name ( make sure you get them to repeat it if you did not get it the first time because that is also one reason why we do not remember a name. We never really heard it to begin with )
So as you hear them say their name you can hear their voice, the name and match it with that distinct feature and now connect them. Say their name again inside your mind while connecting the name with the face and that distinct feature. You are creating a chain that will help you remember like a trail of bread crumbs. You will have improved your memory using these hypnosis tricks.
( there are many good memory books on the market especially from harry loraine and kevin trudeau)
Michael Twomey = 2 Me
P.s. Example : If we were to meet you could notice some distinct feature of mine ( Some say my voice which you can hear on my site or in person. Others say eyes? )
and you could hear me say my name, Twomey. You could shake my hand while repeating my name back or do it inside your mind. Twomey=2 Me There is even a picture on my site
nyc prime hypnosis.net so you could imagine two of me.
You would easily recall my name the next time we met.
Michael Twomey is a Success Coach and Professional Hypnotist in NYC. He has helped many people to change their habits, beliefs and improve their lives. He lives with his beautiful, loving and talented wife, Maggie in Brooklyn.

Hypnosis has been used for various ailments ranging from obesity to smoking. The premise behind this therapy is that when one is under hypnosis, an altered state of consciousness occurs; their attention is more focused and they are more open to suggestions.
This is the way in which hypnotists will usually help someone who is struggling with an addiction or other affliction. No matter why a person has gone to a hypnotherapist, they may have some doubts about the true helping nature of the art of this therapy. Many myths surround this unusual, but effective, mode of treatment and if one is not careful, then they may not get the sufficient help they need because of their beliefs.
One of the first things that is widely believed about this therapy is that while a person is under hypnosis, they surrender all of their freewill. This is totally false. While a person is in a hypnotic trance, they only experience a more aware state of concentration.
Their attention will be focused more on the process at hand and their personality, along with all of their other normal mannerisms, will still exist. A person will never lose their freewill during hypnosis and a hypnotherapist will never manipulate a person in such a way while they are in a trance.
This is another myth about being under hypnosis. The therapist is only available to serve as a guide on the journey to overcoming whatever affliction a person may have.
One of the main myths that exist about hypnosis is that anyone can be hypnotized even if they do not want to. This is, again, very far from the truth. If one is not willing to experience such therapy, then more than likely they will not be able to benefit from a series of hypnosis sessions. Even if one really desires to be placed in a trance, they still may not be suited for this form of treatment.
Not everyone can be placed in a hypnotic state. Another myth that is also associated with this therapy is that while under, one can lose all consciousness and subsequently develop amnesia.
This is true for a very small fraction of people who try this alternative treatment. Some do experience spontaneous amnesia, but usually almost everyone will remember what happened while they were in a trance.
Because of the advancements in mental health, many myths can be dispelled about this therapy. If one does a little research they will come to understand how hypnosis, an innovative form of therapy, can help almost anyone looking to overcome any negative behaviors.

There is a fine line between hypnosis and meditation. While meditation is intended to lead us to full awareness of the present moment where Reality lives. Hypnosis does just the opposite. It puts us asleep to the present moment. Allow me to illustrate the point.
Let us imagine a prisoner in solitary confinement. There is a small concrete room devoid of anything at all except a built in iron bed and a small barred window through which sunlight pours into the cell. The prisoner sits on the floor and looks at the ray of sunlight in front of him. Within the sun ray he sees a speck of dust floating lazily up and down on the heat waves of the sunlight, almost as if defying gravity.
At this point the prisoner can do one of two things. He can quietly observe the floating piece of dust as just another part of his momentary experience in his prison cell, within the cell block, within the prison or…he can fixate on the piece of dust unto forgetfulness of his surroundings. One way he remains in the cell, with awareness of the present and all that is going on around him. The other way induces a forgetfulness of who he is and where he is…escaping his cell and situation mentally by fixation upon the dancing dust particle.
So what is so important about being in the present moment? And what is so bad about escaping the reality of the present moment?
Suppose for a moment that you are a mother of a three year old. And let us suppose you like to watch your afternoon soap operas on TV. Is it so difficult to see that with your attention divided, or lost into the TV that it could pose a danger to your three year old? Is it difficult to see that being lost into the fantasy playing out of the TV screen could easily become an opportunity for your three year old to find some pills in your purse, or some poisonous cleaner under your kitchen sink without you realizing it? With your attention hypnotically fixed away from the present moment where your child is he could swallow some pills thinking them candy, or ingest some poisonous liquid making him sick or worse…a lot worse.
Maintaining awareness of the present moment, being conscious of everything going on around you moment by ever present moment is your personal safety, and the safety of those that depend upon you. Hypnotically getting lost into distraction from the present moment puts you, and those dependent upon you, in potential danger of things sneaking up and taking your by surprise, sometimes with deadly consequences.

For so many years now, hypnosis as one way to stop smoking is considered one of the most effective technique in helping people stop smoking. In spite of its popularity as a great alternative medication used to stop smoking, many people are still confused and baffled on its efficiency. With high dependency on substances found in tobacco or cigarettes, most people say that hypnosis or mind control cannot easily eradicate smoking addiction.
This assertion can well be accepted if they can prove it. However, some individuals continue to debate on the effectivity of hypnosis because their beliefs had been deeply rooted on some myths that are not extremely reliable. Unfortunately, most people who had been brainwashed by myths on hypnosis are those that do not know anything about hypnosis.
Myths on hypnosis to stop smoking have become deeply rooted beliefs that other people are not even aware of them. Consequently, they are very difficult to break. Here is a list of some myths on how hypnosis is used to stop smoking and the truths behind them:
1. Hypnosis lets you do things against your will
Most people, who do not believe that an individual can use hypnosis to stop smoking, consider the statement that hypnotist can control the mind of an individual and let him do things even if they are against his will. This is definitely false. The point is that if hypnosis can allow people to control other peoples minds, then getting rich can be so easy. You do not even have to create a certain distinction on a smokers mind frame and help him stop smoking for life. This is because even if he does not want to stop smoking, he will be compelled to do so because his mind has been programmed and controlled to do such act.
The truth is that hypnosis can never let anybody do things against their will. Even if hypnosis can work its way through your subconscious mind, it is still your conscious mind that will put more bearing on things that you want to attain. The only goal of hypnosis is to help you program your mind to clear things that impede the realization of your goal.
For example, if you really want to stop smoking but you always have excuses or some things influence you to continue, you can opt for hypnosis to stop smoking. In this way, hypnosis can determine the hostilities of your sub-conscious mind so as to achieve the goals of your conscious self.
2. You can be hypnotized even if you do not want to
Some people say that anybody can be hypnotized even if they do not want to. This is totally a myth. Hypnosis is established on the fact that people are willing to be hypnotized because they wanted to see changes in their selves, from which they cannot consciously do. Because there are so many things that block the total concentration of an individual in focusing his mind to important things, such as quit smoking, they can always opt for hypnosis.
As much as you are willing to stop smoking, people who are hypnotized are usually the ones who submit themselves to such acts. In fact, some experts even say that not all people who are willing to be hypnotized can be easily directed to a hypnotic state. Keep in mind that willingness is the key to achieve your goals.
3. You are totally unaware of everything once hypnotized
The truth is that hypnosis can only get through your sub-conscious state. This means that you are not totally conscious but can still be slightly aware of what is happening around you. No wonder why individuals who are in hypnotic state can still answer sensibly the hypnotists questions or can still respond to the hypnotists suggestions.
The point here is that hypnosis can only alter your conscious state but can never let you leave it. Through hypnosis, one can easily see things not being accepted in reality or in ones conscious state. Hence, acceptance is best achieved through hypnosis.
So through hypnosis, you would be able to accept that maybe, one of the reason why you cannot stop smoking even if you wanted to is because you still want to build that manly image. In real, it may be hard for you to admit this but through hypnosis, you can sub-consciously realize this and eventually stop smoking.
All of these myths are totally illusions of things hypnosis is not. Maybe, this can be rooted on the fact that not all people understand the real meaning of hypnosis. But once you have learned its meaning, it will be easier for you to accept the fact that you can effectively use hypnosis to stop smoking.

The rise in the cases of obesity has started a flood of activity among researchers in finding the best solution to weight loss woes. Weight loss hypnosis is one of the most attractive and interesting methods of weight loss proposed as it signifies an easy solution to the problem of weight loss and control. Despite this, hypnosis is frequently misused by some unscrupulous entities who want to take advantage of peoples want and need for a fast and easy solution to weight loss.
There is an abundance of material available on the internet about weight loss hypnosis. This weight loss method is being sold through audiotapes, books, videotapes, and seminar participations. Most, if not all, of these products and programs claim to be able to change an individuals state of mind almost instantaneously, producing results in a very short period of time. Everyone should be mindful and vigilant about these types of claims as most are unfounded and fraudulent.
In spite of the bad media surrounding weight loss hypnosis, it has been found through a number of studies that hypnosis, when used with other behavioral management programs, can have a very positive effect on weight loss. Most behavioral programs used together with weight loss hypnosis are those designed to change an individuals eating pattern. It was also seen that individuals who underwent a weight loss hypnosis and behavioral management program designed specifically for their needs lost more weight than individuals who underwent group therapy. This type of weight loss method has been found to be most effective for individuals who want to undergo a small amount of weight loss. It has also been found to be an effective way of maintaining and controlling weight.
Weight loss hypnosis, as with other types of hypnotic therapies, works mainly by increasing the individuals receptiveness to suggestions that are presented to reinforce the loss of weight. This is done through a process of leading the individual into a state of heightened relaxation and suggestibility. Hypnosis can help people to in creating healthy patterns for long term food consumption as well as help in learning and using positive eating behaviors. The ability to help individuals through the aforementioned manners makes weight loss hypnosis an ideal supplement to other weight management programs.
The use of weight loss hypnosis requires an extended period of time and substantial effort. People who claim otherwise are those that only intend to sell hypnosis to unfortunate individuals who easily fall prey to marketing hoopla. If by chance the lure of using hypnosis tapes is still great, keep in mind that these programs lack substantial scientific evidence that supports its success.
